In this post, I’m sharing my spring capsule wardrobe for 2024. On my blog, I always do a big capsule wardrobe for fall and spring. Year after year, these are my most popular posts. I know many of you are experimenting with a capsule style closet these days. I did my first capsule about 10 years ago, and I learn so much from each one. It has taught me how to shop thoughtfully as well as how to make the most of my wardrobe.
I have a total of 34 pieces in this capsule wardrobe: 12 tops, 6 outerwear pieces, 5 pairs of pants, 1 jumpsuit, 2 dresses, and 8 pairs of shoes. Some of the pieces in my capsule wardrobe are pricey so when applicable, I’ve linked a budget-friendly option that falls at a lower price point.
CAPSULE WARDROBE TIPS
- As you can see, I like neutrals, especially beige, tan, and black tones. Your capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be all neutrals; just ensure that the colors you choose to include go well together.
- Make sure your capsule wardrobe is curated for your climate and lifestyle. Someone who lives in California is going to need different pieces than someone who lives in Minnesota. On that same note, adjust your capsule wardrobe for your lifestyle. If you need to dress up for work, make sure you include more trousers and blouses.
- If you’re creating a capsule wardrobe this spring, start by listing out your most worn basics then add a few trendy pieces in for fun. Capsule wardrobes don’t have to be boring!
SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE: TOPS
White Button Down // A button down is a versatile shirt that makes a chic and effortless outfit. To style this oversized version, I like to wear it untucked with the sleeves rolled up as well as the first two to three buttons left open. I sized down to the XS. Budget-friendly option.
Striped Shirt // Stripes are the quintessential spring print, and I like having a few striped pieces for my spring capsule. For this top, I sized up to the 4 for a more relaxed fit. Budget-friendly option.
White Tee & Black Tee // Every spring capsule wardrobe needs a black and white tee. I wear these all the time for layering under jackets, blazers, and cardigans. I recommend sizing up in these for a looser fit. Budget-friendly option.
Striped Sweater // For early spring, I like putting together a basic outfit with a striped sweater and jeans, but when the weather warms up, you’ll find me throwing the sweater over my shoulders as an accessory. I find this sweater fits true to size. Budget-friendly option.
Cream Tee // I debated whether I needed a white and cream tee in this capsule wardrobe, but I think the subtle difference is worth including both. The cream pairs really well with the other beige and tans in my capsule as well as the greens. I sized up. Budget-friendly option.
Cardigan Sweater // A fitted cardigan works well for day as well as a casual date night (just undo a few buttons!) I took my true size. Budget-friendly option.
Gray Hoodie // For weekends and casual days, a hoodie can be paired with a denim jacket or trench coat. Mine is really good quality and has a relaxed fit. Budget-friendly option.
Green Shirt // If you’ve been here long, you know I love anything olive green. I just recently picked up this beautiful ribbed top. It keeps selling out, but you can add yourself to the waitlist for a restock. It’s very fitted so size up if you’re busty or in between sizes. Similar option.
White Blouse // I love pairing a feminine white blouse with jeans and flats. The details on this one are so pretty. I took my true size. Budget-friendly option.
White Tank & Black Tank // These are good for layering or wearing on their own on a particularly warm day. These fit true to size. Budget-friendly option.
SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE: OUTERWEAR
Denim Jacket // An oversized denim jacket adds a cool, edgy vibe to my more minimal outfits. Mine is sold out from Madewell, but I’ve linked some other options. Similar option. Similar option.
Raincoat // A raincoat is a requirement for living Seattle. I bought mine last fall from Zara. Similar option. Similar option.
Trench Coat // This is probably my most worn piece of outerwear. I love this green color, but a basic tan one would be nice, too. Budget-friendly option. Similar option.
Cream Cardigan // A knit cardigan is another layering option that can be removed if needed. Mine is 100% cotton and really affordable, too.
Bomber Jacket // A bomber jacket adds a little edge to an outfit. I particularly like pairing it with ballet flats as I think it combines masculine and feminine in a cool way. Mine is from H&M.
Blazer // I recently picked up this blazer from Sézane in this ecru color. It’s such good quality! I ended up sizing up to the 4 for a more relaxed fit. Budget-friendly option.
SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE: BOTTOMS & DRESSES
Wide Leg Jeans // This style of wide leg jeans isn’t too baggy. I like these especially for petites; if you order the longer inseam, they fit more like a full length jean. I took my smaller size. Budget-friendly option.
Black Jeans // I think black pairs well with all the beige tones in my spring capsule wardrobe. Plus, they can look a little more dressy either for work or date night. Mine are a classic high-waisted straight jean. Budget-friendly option.
Straight Jeans // I prefer to wear light wash jeans in the spring. This is a classic high-waisted straight jean. These run a bit small; size up. Similar option. Budget-friendly option.
Ecru Jeans // Ecru jeans are one of my spring staples. I prefer this off-white color as opposed to a bright white (it’s much more forgiving.) I took my smaller size and cut the hem. Budget friendly option.
Green Pants // These pants have an interesting shape; they are wide through the hips and thighs and taper at the legs. I styled them a bunch of ways in this post. Budget-friendly option.
Jumpsuit // As a petite girlie, it’s difficult to find a good jumpsuit, but this one has the perfect fit. It’s pricey, but the fit and quality make it worth it in my opinion. I sized down. Budget-friendly option.
Striped Dress // This casual dress is such great quality. The cotton has some weight to it, and it drapes really nicely. Works for petites, too. Budget-friendly option.
Poplin Maxi Dress // This dress is so easy breezy. It’s going to be perfect for those warm spring days paired with sandals or sneakers.
SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE: SHOES
Fisherman Sandals // This style of sandal is cool and edgy and really takes my outfits up a notch. Budget-friendly option.
Brown Loafers // When I want to feel a little more fancy, I reach for my loafers. I like wearing them with cropped bottoms as opposed to those with a full length. STITCHANDSALT15 will get you 15% off your first purchase. Budget-friendly option.
Black Flats & Tan Flats // I had to include both of these flats in my capsule wardrobe; I just couldn’t decide. They are both really versatile, and the woven detail adds texture to my outfits.. They fit true to size. STITCHANDSALT15 for 15% off. Budget-friendly option. Budget-friendly option.
White Sneakers // The cut-outs on the sides of these sneakers make them so chic and elevated. They are super comfortable, too. STITCHANDSALT15 for 15% off your first purchase. Budget-friendly option.
Beige Sandals // These are for late spring days when the weather is warmer. I love this light neutral that pairs well with everything in my capsule.
White Flats // I really love the look of white flats paired with a white top (see the sandwich rule) I plan to wear this a lot this spring. Budget-friendly option.
High Tops // These are my favorite shoes for mom life. I especially like pairing them with my button downs and blazers for a cool, casual look. Size down a half size.
